TaskbarList documentation
Each task below is shown in the app itself. Everything is done from the list's menu, by dragging, or in Settings.
Getting started
Taskbarlist is a program that opens a compact list right above it's location in taskbar in which you can add files, apps and folders from any location on your PC. Pin TaskbarList to the taskbar and let's get started!
Add an item
Right-click the list and choose Add Item. File... picks a file or a program, Folder... picks a folder; the display name is filled in from it and can be changed.
Add places the item in the list.
Add a group
Right-click the list, choose Add Group and type its name. The new group appears at the end of the list.
A group's name collapses or expands it; You can also Rename Group and Remove Group.
Add files by drag and drop
Turn on Keep on Top, in the right-click menu or in Settings › Features, so the list stays open.
Files and folders dragged onto the list are added at its end, ready to be moved where you want.
Move an item to another group
Right-click the item, open Move to Group and choose the group.
Dragging the item into another group works too.
Reorder the list
Drag an item up or down; a line shows where it will land. Groups move the same way.
Hide an icon
Right-click an item and choose Hide Icon to show it as text only. Show Icon, in the same menu, brings the icon back.
Browse folders
Hovering a folder opens its contents next to it, level after level, without leaving the list.
Themes
System follows the Windows light or dark mode. Light and Dark stay fixed, and Aero blurs the desktop behind the list, with adjustable opacity and luminosity. All of them are in Settings › Theme.
